Terms of Use

Effective 25 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Giddy Up Creative Pty Ltd (ACN 167 418 760), Adelaide, South Australia ("we", "us"), for the Cookalogue app and website. By using Cookalogue you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

1. What Cookalogue is

Cookalogue helps you find recipes in the cookbooks you own and the recipes you save from the web. For books, it shows you recipe names and page numbers; it doesn't contain the books' recipes, methods or photos. You'll need your copy of the book to cook from it. Cookalogue is meant for your personal, non-commercial use.

2. Your account

You can use Cookalogue without signing in. If you sign in, keep your Apple or Google account secure, as anyone with access to it can access your shelf. You must be at least 13 to use Cookalogue, and if you're under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission.

3. Cookalogue Plus and the free trial

  • New users get a free trial of Plus. It needs no payment details and doesn't turn into a paid subscription by itself. When it ends, Plus features stop unless you subscribe.
  • Plus is sold as a monthly or annual subscription through Apple. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. You can manage or cancel at any time in your Apple ID settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Plus until the end of the period you've paid for.
  • Payments, refunds and billing are handled by Apple under Apple's terms. To ask for a refund, contact Apple.
  • We may change prices or what's included in Plus. Price changes for an existing subscription follow Apple's rules, which include telling you in advance.

The free version keeps your shelf, lets you open and browse any book or recipe on it, and lets you add books. Searching across your whole shelf, Ask Mise and some planning features need Plus.

4. Your books and imported recipes

  • Own what you add. Cookalogue is designed for books you own. Please only add books that are yours.
  • Imported recipes belong to the people who created them. When you save a link, Cookalogue keeps enough to help you find it again and points you back to the original. Please only import recipes for your own personal use.
  • Links and content from other websites and social platforms are provided by those sites. We're not responsible for them, and they may change or disappear.

5. What you contribute

When you photograph a book's index, add or correct page numbers, report a problem or upload a cover, you give us a permanent, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, change and share that contribution as part of Cookalogue, including adding it to the shared catalogue for other users. You confirm you have the right to share it. We may review, edit or remove contributions. Your notes, collections and meal plans stay private to you.

6. Ask Mise and AI features

Mise and the tools that read index photos and imported pages use AI. They can make mistakes, including the wrong page number or a recipe that doesn't quite match. Mise only points you to recipes on your own shelf and doesn't give cooking instructions. Ask Mise has daily limits, which may change.

7. Food, allergies and health

Cookalogue doesn't give cooking, nutrition, allergy or medical advice. Tags and descriptions are guides only and may be wrong. Always check the recipe in the book or on the original site, and check ingredients yourself if you have an allergy or dietary need.

8. Fair use

Please don't:

  • copy, scrape or resell the catalogue or any part of Cookalogue;
  • use Cookalogue to share or distribute copyrighted recipes or books;
  • upload anything unlawful, offensive or that isn't yours to share;
  • try to get around subscription limits, break or overload the service, or reverse engineer the app; or
  • use another person's account without permission.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

9. Our content

The Cookalogue app, name, logo, the Mise character and the catalogue are owned by us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app under these terms. Book titles, covers and recipe names belong to their publishers and authors.

10. Changes and availability

We're always improving Cookalogue and may add, change or remove features. We try to keep it running smoothly but can't promise it will always be available or error-free. If we make significant changes to these terms, we'll tell you in the app. Continuing to use Cookalogue after that means you accept them.

11. Ending

You can stop using Cookalogue and delete your account at any time in Settings. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an Apple subscription, so cancel that in your Apple ID settings too. We may end these terms or close the service with reasonable notice.

12. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that can't be excluded. Subject to those laws:

  • Cookalogue is provided "as is", and we don't guarantee that page numbers, recipe details, tags or AI results are accurate or complete;
  • we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss; and
  • our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for Plus in the 12 months before the claim, or resupplying the service.

13. Apple

If you downloaded Cookalogue from the App Store: these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for the app, its content, maintenance, support or any claims about it. If the app fails to meet a warranty that applies, you can notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price (if any); otherwise Apple has no warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them. You confirm you're not in a country subject to a US Government embargo and aren't on a US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

14. General

These terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, Australia, and the courts of South Australia have jurisdiction, unless the law where you live says otherwise. If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
